This is the way that we are and this is how we live Trusting in certainties But there was a time when all was changing, when all the rules were being undone New histories being written, a world anew But it all washes away, gun shots ring in the corridors They called your name That tiger in the night likes to think he’s right and so He came and took your life away Like those that came before, a vision lost in war Bullets to make decisions, death to rid us all Of the ones we hate Like when Martin fell one April, like a brother years before Is it God who tells his people how to win his war? And it all melts away, gun ships cross the water One carries your family name Conviction in a gun to kill another one But no, it’s a dream with the nightmare in between (different from recording) Like those that came before, a vision lost in war I’m so tired of this world and all its crap and cursed lies So I just try over and over again

Oooo he got the running. He got the running so fast. One step at a time. Oooo he got the running. He got the running so fast. Eyes on the finish line. This is more than story of races won More than names carved on the wall. The wall. He hit the track and ran for us all. He fought the war before it was real. A black boy from America. America. Did he know what the world would be? Did he know the reasons why? Another day in his life. Oooo he got the running. He got the running so fast. Medals as the golden proof. Oooo he got the running. He got the running so fast. Some turned away from the truth. And all takes place at a point in time. Where symbols won the mind. The mind. He hit the track and ran for us all. He fought the war before it was real. A black boy from America. America. Did he know what the world would be? Did he know the reasons why? Another day in his life.

I have lost all my hope in the world. All my dreams, so short, are now gone. I’m just sitting here alone, screaming curses down the phone My nation has betrayed me, just as life will leave me in old age. Can I turn a new page while I’m filled with rage? It’s a blackened cage. All is lost. How will history write of me? How kind will the words be of my peers? They’ll be sitting there alone, telling lies down the phone. Have they betrayed me, just as life will leave me in old age? Can I turn a new page while I’m filled with rage? It’s a blackened cage. All is lost. Will I learn to trust again? Will I ever forgive their sins, while they begin… To take apart all I dreamed of for this land. Broken truths, all that’s left in withered hands. It’s so cold here all alone, hanging up this worn out phone. History betrayed me, just as life will leave me in old age. Can I turn a new page while I’m filled with rage. It’s a blackened cage. All is lost.

Sweet baby, don’t you cry, as your father says goodbye for the last time He’s gone now to build a world, out something that never was, but at what cost In all your years did you ever wonder if this place was meant to be? A feigned land, and a promise of freedom, is that what he wished to see? There’s a burning inside of you Something that makes this place true, but I wonder Sweet lady, beneath the sky is a place where your father lies and where he lost his life He went to build a world, one forged from the hills, in blooded deals In all your years is there ever reflection on where the lines are drawn? Forced together, a people of a vision and a nation so torn and reborn There’s a burning inside of you Something that makes this place true, but I wonder What came before, what came before? A map to draw, a map to draw And you There’s a burning inside of you Something that makes this place true, but I wonder

Tell me Michael, how does it feel? Sitting on the grass, nursing your wounds Humming a different tune then you were It’s brave new world, tell me what is your legacy? It’s brave new world, tell me what is your legacy? Michael Tell me Michael, did the lords of London treat you well? Had they seen the fate in the deal you would make? Had they looked into their into their crystal ball? Well, Had you? It’s brave new world, tell me what is your legacy? It’s brave new world, tell me what is your legacy? Michael It’s brave new world, tell me what is your legacy? It’s brave new world, tell me what is your legacy? Michael If you had a second shot, would you change the plot Of you island’s history? Well, tell me. It’s a cold, cold world, tell me what is your legacy? It’s a cold, cold world, tell me what is your legacy? Michael
